The Carriacou Maroon and Stringband Music Festival merges the African maroon celebration and string band music into one unique setting. Held at the end of April annually, the festival celebrates the maroons who escaped slavery and built their own communities whilst preserving African heritage and culture through drumming, singing, smoked food and other rituals which bring people together.

A day filled with delicious breadfruit dishes, exciting competitions, prizes, music, and culture!

Begun in 1977, this festival features elements of traditional Christmas caroling blended with the humorous storytelling of the year’s events through song, all rolled into an inter-village competition.

This unique festival is at the intersection of culture, music, and corn-related foods. Festivities include everything from paime to vibrant stringband music and traditional maypole dancing.

This festival is the island nation’s way of highlighting local conservation efforts both on land and underwater.
